Elimination Chamber Review

Elimination Chamber brought you live on the WWE Network from the American Bank area in Corpus Christi Texas!

Match 1: The Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Tag Team Championship:

  • JB's Opinion: This was a train wreck of a match. It did have a few really cool spots from Kalisto but it just never felt like a typical Elimination chamber match. I was very surprised they had Lucha Dragons eliminated so early in the match, In my opinions they were one of my favorites to go to the end. I was also very surprised by how dominant The Ascension looked early on. This was certainly their most dominant performance since being called up to the main roster. At first I was disappointed with the fact that all three members of New Day were in the match. The announcers did a good job of letting us know that the Authority was rewarding New Day for helping them last week on Smackdown. Once that was explained I was fine with it. I like New Day going over here, they are still very entertaining heels. I think their title reign has a lot of life left in it.

Winner: New Day

Match 2: Nikki Bella, Paige vs Naomi for the Divas Championship:

  • JB's Opinion: Not a bad match from the ladies. The main roster divas just can't seem to capture the magic that the NXT ladies do. No matter who they put into a match, the match just never seems to be as special as the NXT matches are. That being said the ladies worked hard and they did what they had to do with the time they were given. Im not sure what Naomi tried to do to Paige toward the end but she botched it pretty bad. Nikki Bella getting the win was a little surprising, I really thought WWE would go with Naomi in this one. I guess they want to break the record set by AJ so they don't have to mention her when they talk about that record.

Winner: Nikki Bell

Match 3: John Cena vs Kevin Owens in a champion vs champion Match:

JB's Opinion: This match had the big match feel and it delivered! This was just an amazing match that had me setting on the edge of my seat the entire time! I am so excited that WWE decided to give Kevin Owens the nod here. He won that match clean and he won it in a dominant fashion. Take nothing away from John Cena here, he did a lot in this match and he allowed Kevin to do some things to him that I never thought I would see in a Cena match. The top rope slam spot was just insane considering how big these two guys are. There were so man near falls and finishing moves that I had not idea when the end was going to come. The only thing better than the match it's self is the promo Owens cut after the match. Owens is a monster and if you think he is going anywhere but to the top of the card you are sadly mistaken.

P.S. Just think of who has beat John Cena clean in the last three years, The Rock, Daniel Bryan, Brock Lesnar and now Kevin Owens. That speaks volumes for what this match means to Owens WWE career.

Winner: Kevin Owens

Match 4: Neville vs Bo Dallas

JB's Opinion: Im not going to lie I am mentally not in this match right now. My head is still spinning after watching that Owens vs. Cena match. This match was what it was, a nice quick match that slowed down the pace of the show. It provided a gap between the Big Cena vs. Owens match and the final two matches. These guys work well together and it was great to see them them bring this feud back from NXT. I personally wish Bo had gone over in this match because he has not won a match in months. But Neville is always fun to watch and I have no problem with him winning. I hope they continue this feud for a little longer, I think it will be a fun mid card series of matches.

Winner: Neville

Match 5: Elimination Chamber match for the Intercontinental Championship:

JB's Opinion: I hate to say it but that match was really bland. Nothing really stood out and made me say wow, like the first match. This match suffered from two things, one WWE has repeatedly made the IC title feel worthless. I mean when was the last time an IC had a strong run where they were not losing every week on Raw to a "big name" guy? The second thing that cost this match was poor show booking. I can say that we hit the peak of the show with the Cena vs. Owens match. Everything since that point has just seemed flat. You never put a great match in the middle of your card it zaps all the energy from the crowd and leaves them flat for the rest of the show. As for the finish, I like Ryback getting the win. At this point he is something different and I am hoping WWE will use him to make the title look important. Ryback has the size and strength to have a nice long dominant title run. I personally would have rather seen Sheamus walk away with the win but this will do. I also like the show of respect after the match between Daniel Bryan and Ryback. There was no angle, no gimmick just one wrestler putting over another wrestler.

Winner: Ryback

Match 6: Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship:

JB's Opinion: Wow its been a long time since I have seen a dusty finish! This was something WWE did way to much back in the day and its been just long enough that this seems fresh. The match it's self wasn't to bad. Both guys had a lot of offense and the back and forth was fun. As I said earlier I like the finish. I wasn't expecting a title change tonight anyway. I was sure Roman was going to turn on Dean tonight, after that opening promo between the two men I was 100% sure it was going to happen. I like that WWE is toying the turn but not giving it. After the announcement was made both men did a great job of selling the match decision. Seth's face was hilarious! I really like Dean stealing the title it makes me want to tune into Raw to see what he does next.

Winner: Dean Ambrose by DQ but Seth Retains the title

JB's Final Opinion: My final thought on this show was that it really hit it's peak during the Cena vs. Owens match. The two Elimination Chamber matches were not the best but I left still feeling pleased with what I saw tonight. This was a decent show that kept met entertained. I have certainly seen worse shows put on by WWE in the past. This show left me excited for Raw and Money in the Bank. I will actually be attending Money in the Bank this year so I am already kind of excited for it. I hope you enjoyed the show! Thanks for Reading the Elimination Review!

Until Next time Wrestling Fans!!!
