E60 Behind The Curtain Review

If you did not get a chance to watch the ESPN E60 special on WWE NXT stop what your doing and go watch it. This was one of the best behind the scenes specials I have ever seen on the WWE. The special was an in depth look at WWE's developmental territory called NXT. NXT as it is today was created by the WWE in August 2012. WWE took their old developmental territory called Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) and re-branded it as NXT. Since then NXT has served as a launching pad for many popular wrestlers like Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns among others. These men have gone on to main event many pay-per-views including Wrestle Mania the "Super Bowl" of the wrestling world.

The E60 special was created to show a behind the scenes look at 3 characters from the "Current" NXT roster. I put the current in quotes because all the men have either been moved up to the main roster or they have moved on to new roles in the company since the special was filmed. The three men spotlighted in the special were  Matt Polinsky (Corey Graves), Austin Watson ( Xavier Woods) and Ray Leppan (Adam Rose) (Leo Kruger). The special focused on each man's personal life and the struggles they face day in and day out with their wrestling careers and their family life. The special told the deep and often heart wrenching story of each man's journey to the WWE.

It was really cool to look into each man's personal life and learn more about why they wrestle and where their passion for the business comes from. I wont go into detail about each man's story but know that each one of these guys have faced adversity and have over come it to get where they are on the current WWE roster. Ray Leppan's (Adam Rose) story really had a profound impact on me. It was crazy to see just how close he was to being let go and seeing him fight to create a new character so he could stay with the company and keep his family fed and cared for. This really opened my eyes to the fact that its not always about the money and wrestling to these guys. Sometimes its about providing for their families needs.  I think that is an often overlooked part of the wrestling business from a fans point of view. We can get so caught up in who is winning and who is not being pushed and we often forget about the personal side of the wrestling world.

I one hundred percent recommend this E60 special to not only wrestling fans but to anyone who just likes to see a feel good story. The special took us on an emotional ride from start to finish. This special is a must watch and I praise ESPN for the work they did in putting this together. I would also like to give a shout out to each wrestler for opening their lives for the making of this special. Guys like Ray Leppan and Matt Polinsky are why I enjoy being a wrestling fan, they are good guys on and off screen.

Hope you enjoyed the special and my review of it!

Until next time wrestling fans,
