NXT kicked off with the Dusty Rhodes tribute video and I have to admit I have seen this video multiple times this week, and every time I see it I still get a little choked up. It was such a great tribute to an amazing man. It was announced that Samoa Joe will be facing Kevin Owens tonight in the main event!!
As the show got started Big Cass, Enzo and Carmella made their way down to the ring to a huge pop. These guys are beyond over and they have been that way for a while. It always cracks me up because they remind me so much of the New Age Outlaws and its awesome. They cut a nice promo that was eventually interrupted by Blake, Murphy and Alexa Bliss. Following the entrances we had a pretty good six man mixed tag match. The good guys got over early on and maintained the crowd's momentum that was already really high from the entrances. The heels eventually got the upper hand and slowed down the match, until the face rally occurred. Carmella got the hot tag and came in and took out Bliss. That lead to a Big Cass rally which saw him clean house. Enzo got the tag and hit a dive off the top rope for the win! I really hope they put the belt on Enzo and Cass soon because I feel like they will be great champs.
After the first match we got a nice promo from Samoa Joe hyping up the main event. After a short break they aired a video that shed a little light on Finn Balor's past. It was a well done video that gave a nice look at Finn Balor's past. I didn't realize how close he and Becky Lynch actually are, I guess it makes perfect since they are both from the same place. I can't wait for them to show part two next week.
Next up on the card we had a Women's wrestling match between Charlotte and Cassy. This like most NXT women's matches was a pretty good one! I really enjoy watch Charlotte do her thing in the ring and I can't wait for them to finally bring her up to the main roster. I just hope that when they do finally bring her up, they give her something interesting to do. I have been very disappointed in how Paige and Emma have been treated so far on the main roster, I hope by the time Charlotte moves up they will have the Divas division some what figured out.
Following the match we were taking back stage for an interview with Dana Brook. I can't help but notice that she never looks at the camera when she cuts promos. I don't know what she is looking at but it is just kinda odd, and for that matter her whole character is kinda odd. I am honestly not a huge fan of Dana Brook but maybe she will grow on me.
Now its finally time for the big main event between Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens. This was a pretty good match between the two big men. I didn't have very high hopes for this match, being that it was the first match and it is not on a pay-per-view. You had to see the non-clean finish coming from a mile away, there was no way either man was going to take a loss this early in the feud. This match did a great job of giving us a taste of whats to come in this feud. I know these guys will have more matches. They will have more matches in NXT and on the main roster, this was just a taste of whats to come folks!
