Raw Review 5/4/15

WWE Raw on USA network Live from Montreal, Quebec  in the Bell Centre :


Opening To Raw: 

• Raw had a strong opening with good bickering back and forth between Randy and Reigns. The two of them sounded strong and really played well off each other. The only problem I could find is it seems like Roman is acting very heelish in this promo. He took a cheap shot at Randy and the fans which seemed to draw a reaction from the fans and not the kind you want a Face getting. New day coming out was a big surprise. I kept waiting for Seth Rollins to come out but I would have never guessed New Day to be the ones to interrupt. I actually really liked the mic work from New Day, Their blissfully unaware heel act just cracks me up. They seem to be getting a lot of momentum here in the last few weeks lets see if that continues. Im glad they opted to go for the opening match instead of making this the main event. I don't think New Day is ready for the main event spot light yet. 

New Day vs Randy Orton and Roman Reigns in a three on two handy cap match:

• Not a bad match to start off Raw. There was a good pace and the action really picked up toward the end. The ending was kinda of expected although I totally could have seen the two bigger names going over here. But I like New Day going over its keeps their momentum going and helps build the feud between Roman and Randy. After the match Kane tells Randy and Roman their nights are far from over. He then announces the main event which will be Roman Reigns vs Randy Orton. 

• Back stage Seth confronts Kane about his recent choices. And Kane responds by announcing Rollins vs Dean Ambrose with J&J Security banned from Ring Side. I like the little feud between Kane and Seth its probably the most interesting thing Kane had done since his days in Team Hell No. He has come along way since being Director of the Hot Dog stand or what ever it was a few months back. 

Ryback comes down to the Ring to cut a promo: 

• Nice promo from the big guy. I like that he kept his cool and called the crowd out when they would not stop chanting Goldberg. I don't think the crowd was chanting because they didn't like Ryback's promo. They were quick to give some loud "Feed Me More" chants when prompted. When is Bray every going to cut a promo in the ring??? I like his promos but the video only talking is getting old come out and confront somebody. Better yet come out and win a match. This feud is really interesting to me because both these guys really need wins and they cannot afford to lose any more especially Bray. 

Cesaro and Kid vs Ascension:  

• Not a bad tag match! Both teams had their chance to get some offense in and Cesaro with all those upper cuts was just awesome! I really like the team of Kid and Cesaro they just deliver every week and all the stuff they do in their entrance cracks me up. I love the fact that they do the Kamehameha while coming to the ring.  
• Man no rest for the weary with this raw Ambrose vs Rollins is up next! 

Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins: 

• WHAT Dean has a chance at getting in the title match that would be so awesome!! I liked the Triple Threat match but holy crap adding Dean to its makes it so much sweeter!

• OMG what an awesome match!! That was so much fun to watch and I have to ask why is that not the main event match??? That will be so much better than Roman vs Orton. Man I may have geeked out like a school girl when that three count hit. I can say I am legit excited for the Payback main event now.  Lets see if the Authority keep the match the way it is when HHH and Stephanie come back. The only knock I have is with the commentary team not acknowledging the fact that Ambrose pinned the champ. 

Rusev (with Lana) vs Fandango:

• This was not quite the squash match I thought it was going to be. Fandango actually had some decent offense and hey we got to see Lana dance so its a win for everyone involved. Except for Rusev who seems to be having a tough time with his lady dancing. 

Stardust vs R-Truth: 

• Well this Raw was rolling and you knew it had to come to an end at some point and this match was the slowing point. One neither of these guys have done anything in forever. Two they used a bag of spiders to get the finish. That was just dumb at least make it a real spider or something. On to the John Cena US open challenge lets see if we get Sami Zayn tonight! 

• On a side not looks like the contract signing for the Payback main event will be held on smack down this week. 

John Cena Vs Sami Zayn: 

• Man what a range of emotion that was first Bret Heart comes out which is just special and you knew exactly who he was going to introduce. Then good ole Heath Slater comes out and my first response was anger. Then he got hit in the face with a mic and I literally laughed out loud. And finally Sami Zayn made his entrance and the crowd exploded! That was defiantly a cool moment.  That match was awesome and I cant say John buried him cause that is not the case at all. What a good back and forth match that made Sami look very strong and I really like that John Cena gave him a moment at the end. That was a great debut and one that will be remembered. John Cena's face when Zayn hit the Koji Clutch was awesome.

King Barret and Sheamus vs Dolph Ziggler and Neville

•  Well that was a fun match but a short one. I cant believe its almost 11! This raw has really flown by which is the exact opposite of what Raw normally does. They really have not hit a slow point the whole night. It was good to see the heels actually taking a victory here it makes these two feuds seem a little stronger. The King Barret gimmick is ok but I cant help but think he is just Booker T's character with a British accent and no queen Sharmell. 

Randy Orton vs Roman Reigns: (Main Event) 

Well that main event was short and sweet and it served the purpose of hyping up the Payback match. I like that Dean got the chance to stand tall at the end it made it feel like he may really have a chance in the match. The crowd was really flat during the whole match until Ambrose came out. I think that was due to the 3 hour format and all the excitement earlier in the show. Still this show was better than the average raw and it was a lot of fun to watch.
